Kelsey Grammer, Why Didn't You Tell Your Other Kids About the Twins?Shana Aborn
Most parents of young children try to shield them from certain family matters that might upset or confuse them. If Uncle Pete is cheating on Aunt Sue, or Dad’s “business trips” are really Atlantic City junkets, that’s a matter for the adults to deal with.
But when your kids’ stepmother is expecting a baby – or two – shouldn’t they find out about it before their dad announces the news on a major TV awards show?
Camille Grammer certainly thinks so, according to a source who spoke to the Huffington Post yesterday – and she’s furious at ex Kelsey Grammer for keeping such a major secret from their two school-age kids.
“Camille and the children had no idea,” the source confides. “They found out about it from the media.”
So if 10-year-old Mason and 7-year-old Jude were watching the Golden Globes on Sunday, they not only watched their father get one of the coveted awards (for his starring role in Boss), they also saw him gushing over wife Kayte‘s baby bump and saying how as a mom, she’ll “blow [the kids] away.”
I imagine Mason and Jude were pretty blown away themselves.Camille just recently told a HuffPo reporter that Kelsey’s openness about personal issues is “hurtful to me and disrespectful of our children. He’s not thinking of the kids when he does stuff like that.” She added that even though Jude is a little young yet to understand the drama of his parents’ lives, Mason hears about it from her classmates.
Now, I’m not a huge Camille fan, but I’ve got to side with her on this one. We’re not talking about sordid divorce details or bankruptcy or drug addiction from which the kids need to be protected. These are babies – new family members – new stepsiblings in Mason and Jude’s lives. And Kayte’s already in her second trimester, so it’s not as though she just saw the pregnancy test results.
When was Kelsey going to tell them – on the way to the delivery room?!
Sorry, Dad. You dropped the ball on this one. Children don’t have to be informed about every secret in their parents’ lives, but this is pretty important stuff.
Hope you’ve got some answers ready when the kids ask, “Why didn’t you tell us before?” Or that other heart-wrencher, “Are you going to love these babies more than us?”
