Kendra Beebe says she feared the jury would be swayed by the fame of her attacker, Shelley Malil, the actor best known for his appearance in the film “The 40-Year-Old Virgin.”
But the 37-year-old mother of two says her faith in the justice system was renewed Thursday when her ex-boyfriend was found guilty of attempted murder.
“I feel a sense of relief, but I have to be honest there is never a win in a situation like this,” Kendra said.
“I was afraid because he was an actor that the people might believe his bad theatrics. I am pleased to see the justice system did its job properly.”
Shelley stabbed Kendra more than 20 times during a quarrel at her San Diego home in 2008, while her two children were upstairs.
Shelley, who played Haziz, a co-worker of Steve Carell’s character in “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” , faces 16 years to life in prison.
After sustaining life-threatening injuries, Kendra is lucky to be alive. We’re thankful for that since she does have two children.
Kendra said her body is covered in scars but she has been able to return to her favorite sport, surfing.
