Kim Clijsters Helps Sick Aussie Kids

ten_a_clijsters_576-1After winning the final at Brisbane International over the weekend, tennis mom Kim Clijsters donated the $40,000 prize money to Brisbane’s Royal Children’s Hospital.

She had visited the hospital the week before so she was familiar with the patients.

“It changes you, it stuck with me for days,” she said. “It’s terrible to see kids (suffering). There were boys and girls Jada’s age, 17 months and three years old, with brain tumours and everything.

“You wonder how it was possible for a young baby like that and it’s not easy.”

She hopes more locals will donate and says she will return next year to meet the kids and families when they are healthier.

Kim’s husband is an American Basketball player. Their daughter Jada turns two next month.
