She might be one of the most sought-after celebrities in the entertainment sector, but when it comes to oftentimes snobbish world of fashion, Kim Kardashian might not be as welcomed as she would hope to be.
According to stylist Nicole Formichetti, who styled the reality television star for her recent shoot with Elle Magazine, dressing the celebrity mama-to-be was a “challenge,” and that’s not just because of her dangerous curves, but because he says, “People wouldn’t lend me the clothes. But that’s fashion snobbery.”
I’m sure Nicola’s words are something Kardashian Matriarch Kris Jenner wouldn’t want to hear. But we can’t help but wonder: is Kim Kardashian the fashion world’s persona non grata? Do fashion houses refuse to have her carry their labels because they don’t want to be associated with the controversial socialite?
The answer could be both yes and no. Like Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion elite often can’t make up their minds as to what is in and what is out faster than Heidi Klum can say “Auf Wiedersehen.” Kim’s foundation, after all, is in fashion, with her and her sisters co-owning several Dash boutiques across the country. And of course, Kim wearing a Chanel blazer or Balmain jeans is going to get much more attention than someone less recognizable (but still important in the fashion world), such as Karlie Kloss, Anja Rubik, or even Abbey Lee Kershaw.
Check out our photos of Kim in Elle below along with some recent maternity shots of her and tell us, do you think Kimmy Cakes deserves a break in the high fashion world or do you think she should just stick to being Kanye West’s baby mama? I mean, love her or hate her, it’s hard not to argue with the fact that she is a pop culture icon … for now, at least.
