Forget about Keeping Up With the Kardashians – it’s Kourtney Kardashian who’ll have her hands full keeping up with her kids! With the arrival of Baby#2, Kourtney Kardashian joins the proud ranks of mothers with closely-spaced children: son Mason Disick will be just 2 years old next month.
Take it from one who knows, Kourt – raising two little ones has its unique challenges – lots more diaper changes! – but it has some unexpected benefits, too. For instance:
You’re used to sleepless nights. When your first child is already in elementary school, it can be a rude shock going back to the routine of 2:00 AM feedings, strollers and mashed peas. But with a toddler, the transition is easier. You probably have a lot of baby food still in the pantry. And those strollers with a standing platform on the back were tailor-made for you.
Hooray for hand-me-downs! The older sib’s outgrown onesies, sweaters and baby shoes get a second life in the newbie’s wardrobe. Even if the kids aren’t the same gender, you can get away with reusing clothes that aren’t too overly frilly or boyish. Giraffes work for everyone.
Your entertainment choices don’t change. No worries about your innocent baby being exposed to Lady Gaga or the Twilight series before her time because her big brother is into more mature diversions. Both your children can enjoy everything from Baby Einstein DVDs to bedtime nursery rhymes. They both need toys without small parts or hard edges. And at Disney parks, no need to split up the family because one kid wants to ride Space Mountain while the other one goes to “It’s a Small World.”
You have a live-in role model. Even though the big bro or sis may get tired of being shadowed by the new arrival, secretly they’re proud to show off their “big-kid” skills. The happy result? The younger child is often quick to catch on to toilet-training, reading and other milestones.
So, Kourtney, enjoy these last few months of being a mom of a singleton – but at the same time, look forward to the joys of having two closely-spaced children. (Heck, Michelle Duggar has practically made it a career!)
