It’s hard to believe that its been four years since Anna Nicole Smith’s death, and it’s harder for Larry Birkhead to talk about the late model and actress with daughter, Dannielynn, 4. On top of the sadness of the situation, Birkhead also finds it difficult to switch off from friend to parent.
“It’s hard to flip from friend to parent,” Birkhead admits. “I overcompensate because she doesn’t have a mom and I probably give her more than I should,” he says, adding, “I’m working on cutting down on the shopping sprees.”
I’ve always felt strongly about this issue when it comes to parents and their children. I have and always will feel that parents are parents. Oprah Winfrey once said it best when she said, “Children can have a million friends, but they only have one parent.”
Do you consider yourself more of a friend or a parent? Do you feel the two can coexist?
