Pop phenomenon Elton John pulled double duty last night on Saturday Night Live as host and musical performer. But he wasn’t alone when it came to showcasing his chops on the piano. John was accompanied by none other than Leon Russell.
John last made an appearance on the sketch comedy show back in 1982 when he played “Empty Garden” and “Ball and Chain.”
Leon and his then-wife Mary Russell were musical guests on SNL back in 1976.
Last fall, John and Russell released a collaborative album The Union which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 in October.
Did you enjoy last night’s double performance? Did Leon Russell add to the performance?
