Liam Neeson's 'Unknown' Wins Box Office, Neeson's 'Esquire' Interview

Liam Neeson

Liam Neeson Stars in 'Unknown'

Liam Neeson’s new thriller Unknown was the box office winner this weekend, raking in $21.8 million as of Sunday’s studio estimates.  Neeson’s new film edged out the teen hit I Am Number Four, which made $19.5 million this weekend at the box office.

Unknown stars Neeson as a botanist who awakens from a coma to find his wife claims she does not know him and that another man has taken his identity.

Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) awakens after a car accident in Berlin to discover that his wife (January Jones) suddenly doesn’t recognize him and another man (Aidan Quinn) has assumed his identity.  Ignored by disbelieving authorities and hunted by assassins, he finds himself alone, tired, and on the run.

On his own in a strange country, Martin seeks aid from an unlikely and reluctant source (Diane Kruger) as he plunges headlong into a deadly mystery that will force him to question his sanity, his identity, and just how far he’s willing to go to uncover the truth. In the March 2011 Esquire, Liam Neeson spoke for the first time about the death of his wife, Natasha Richardson.  The full interview and the pictures are at Esquire.com: The Hard Luck and Beautiful Life of Liam Neeson but here’s a quick preview of the awesome interview with one of my favorite actors.

“I think I survived by running away some. Running away to work. Listen, I know how old I am and that I’m just a shoulder injury from losing roles like the one in Taken. So I stay with the training, I stay with the work. It’s easy enough to plan jobs, to plan a lot of work. That’s effective. But that’s the weird thing about grief. You can’t prepare for it. You think you’re gonna cry and get it over with. You make those plans, but they never work. It hits you in the middle of the night — well, it hits me in the middle of the night. I’m out walking. I’m feeling quite content. And it’s like suddenly, boom.”

I’d pay to watch Liam Neeson read the phone book so I’m all over his new flick! Here’s the trailer or learn more by visiting the Unknown website.
