Following the death of her mother Jill Clayburgh, Lily Rabe has cancelled her upcoming Broadway performance. Jill’s passing was announced Friday, and not long after that Lily had announced she would be taking a leave of absence from “A Merchant Of Venice.”
The play had not yet opened on Broadway, so the opening date for the production has been pushed back. When the play does open, Rabe’s understudy will be on stage until the actress is able to return. According to People Magazine, a new opening date for the production will be set in the coming week.
Even though Jill has been sick for many many years, it is still difficult to lost a parent. I hope that Lily and the rest of her family have the strength to get through this most difficult time. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.
