That certainly seems to be the question that a Los Angeles area judge is asking herself as she sends Lohan back behind bars for the third time since 2007.
Lindsay’s current stay in the Lynwood Correctional Facility stems from a series of arrests way back in 2007. How did the once promising actress end up in this never-ending downward spiral?
Lindsay’s battle with drugs and alcohol began in January 2007 when the actress voluntarily admitted herself to the Wonderland Rehabilitation Facility for a 30-day stay. After a year of party girl rumors and misbehavior on-set, it was simply a case of clean-up or ship out for Lohan.
Upon her release from rehab, Lohan was arrested several times for DUI over the course of the summer. In May 2007, Lindsay was arrested for DUI after she lost control of her car, jumped a curb and hita tree. Lindsay entered the Promises rehab center for 45 days and was fitted with the SCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet upon her release.
Just two weeks after leaving the rehab center, Lindsay was again arrested for driving under the influence on July 24th, 2007. During both arrests, Lindsay was in possession of cocaine. This time she opted to leave LA and headed to the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Sundance, Utah. For her second arrest, Lindsay plead guilty to cocaine possession and driving under the influence. She was sentenced to one day in jail of which she served just 84 minutes.
Everything seemed to be quieting down for Lohan until May 2010 when she opted to stay at the Cannes Film Festival instead of attending a DUI progress report hearing. At this point, the judge finally lost his patience with the troubled actress and decided it was time to teach her a lesson. She was ordered to attend weekly alcohol education classes and wear aSCRAM alcohol monitoring bracelet. This was her last and final warning before landing hehind bars.
In July 2010, the judge determined that Lindsay was in violation of her probation and sentenced her to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab. She was immediately taken into custody and spent 14 days inside the Lynwood Correctional Facility. Upon her release, Lindsay stayed an additional 23 days in the rehabilitation center at UCLA Medical Center.
Finally, Lindsay failed a mandatory drug test on September 17, 2010. She tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines. For this violation, Lohan was ordered to be taken into custody until her formal probation violation hearing on October 22. Time will tell if this incarceration will finally scare Lindsay straight or if she will ultimately end up a troubled former child star beaten down by drugs and alcohol.
Do you think Lindsay Lohan ever learn her lesson?
