Margaret Cho Kicked Off Dancing With The Stars, But Still A Winner With Kids

Margaret Cho may have shimmied her way out of the competition tonight on Dancing With the Stars, but she is definitely still a winner when it comes to being a role model.

Not only did she wear a fierce rainbow ensemble for gay pride on tonight’s episode, she spoke out against bullying in the wake of the deaths of several young kids by suicide. “When I was a teenager, I was bullied a lot, and I felt very insecure and very scared, and I didn’t want to live,” Margaret, who is bisexual, told People. “And I just want to reach out to these kids and make sure that they stay with us.”

Her partner Van Amstel urged gay teens to find strength in their talents. “I’ve been bullied for being gay when [I was] 10 years old because I loved dance,” he said. “You just have to find out what you’re really good at. Put your mind, body and soul into that. For me, it was dance, and it was great therapy.”
