Mariah Carey Asks Fans: "Please Pray" for Nick

Mariah offers some TLC

Mariah Carey‘s Twitter followers got a shock early this morning when she tweeted, “Please pray for Nick as he’s fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure. #mybraveman.”

She linked to the picture shown here, showing her lying next to her husband and offering him a sip from a large cup.

On her website, Mariah wrote a slightly longer message, noting that this was a “role reversal” because “Last  year it was me hooked up to the machines (after having dembabies) and Nick was there with me through it, and now here we are.”

Just days earlier, Mariah and Nick were photographed celebrating the holidays in Aspen with twins Moroccan and Monroe. Nick looked the picture of health at the time, but apparently he was rushed to the hospital last night.

The Media Take Out site speculated that Nick might have suffered a bad blow to the kidneys after sparring with a welterweight boxer a few weeks ago, but no one has officially confirmed the cause of his illness.

Mariah says they’re “trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances,” and she’s trying to maintain a sense of humor during the crisis. (She described them as being ” ‘straaaaanded in Aspen’ #DramaticDivaPlace.”)

But judging from the picture, she hasn’t slept much in the last day or so. (“They tried to kick me out of the hospital but here I am pon de bed with Mr. C,” she comments.)

Her final thought: “It’s a very serious moment that’s very tough on all of us so please keep us and our family in your prayers.”

We will, Mariah. Get well soon, Nick – dembabies need you!
