L.A. Laker Matt Barnes Arrested for Domestic Violence: What About His Kids?

LA Laker Matt Barnes Arrested for Domestic Violence

L.A. Laker Matt Barnes

Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes has been arrested on domestic violence charges.

Police reports don’t name Gloria Govan as the woman involved, who is his planned future wife.  But they do say the domestic abuse arrest was related to a woman who lived with him.

Govan, who starred on the VH1 reality show Basketball Wives, has two children with the 30-year-old Barnes.

What does this mean for his children?  What goes on in their house if there is physical violence?

In a text message to a reporter and on his Twitter page, Matt Barnes claims he was the victim.  The Sacramento Bee reports that both Barnes and the woman had injuries when police arrived, but Barnes was determined to be the aggressor in the situation.

Police responded to a call at the shared residence of Barnes and his girlfriend and determined the two had a physical confrontation. Barnes apparently tried to keep his girlfriend from speaking with emergency dispatchers, according to police.  Both Barnes and Govan had visible injuries, but Barnes was determined to be the aggressor.

Barnes defended himself on Twitter this morning and told a Sacramento television station that he “was the victim” but was the one arrested.

“DON’T LET YOUR EARS WITNESS, WHAT YOUR EYES DIDN’T SEE!!!” Barnes tweeted after his arrest.

Barnes was released on bail after posting a $50,000 bond.

Let’s just hope their kids aren’t living in an unhealthy environment.  If he and his girlfriend were both fighting, where were his kids?
