Matt Lauer's Mom Further Denies Split, Unlike His MILErin Blakeley
Well, now that that we have the news from Matt Lauer’s mouth that the rumors of his infidelity and split from wife of 12 years, Annette Roque, have been greatly exaggerated, a few questions remain. Chief on that list: What’s up with his mother-in-law?
Tracing back the evolution of this story from its origins in the National Enquirer, it appears Lauer’s mother-in-law was apparently one of the sources who initially confirmed the split. According to RadarOnline, Johanna Struijk, told the publication that Lauer and her daughter broke up but added “It’s OK, she is happy”.
Kind of puzzling, no?
Nonetheless, Lauer has denied the split, and released an emphatic statement reaffirming his relationship.
“I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple. I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that.”
Meanwhile, Lauer’s mother, Marilyn Gentry, has confirmed his version of events, telling RadarOnline that her son and daughter in law were still together as of Mother’s Day, which was four days ago.
“I was just there for a three day weekend for Mother’s Day with Matt and Annette and the three kids,” Gentry said. “They get along great and Annette and I get along great. She’s a great gal.”
While it appears that Lauergate may be blowing over—although notably, we still haven’t heard from Annette Roque in all this—one thing is for sure. Matt Lauer better send his mother-in-law flowers and apologize for whatever he did to get on her bad side. And in the meantime, hope she doesn’t open a Twitter account.
