To Mel Gibson, Australia represents an idyllic time. It’s where he was raised (from age 12 on), and where his career got its whiz-bang start with 1979’s Mad Max and 1981’s Gallipoli. So it was no surprise when reports surfaced over the weekend that he was selling off his U.S. properties and moving back to Australia. That’s half-a-world away from baby-momma Oksana Grigorieva and the child they have together. It was a sign that he could be giving up on the custody fight and focusing on preserving himself, instead. Most surprising? According to the U.K. Daily Mail, the move was suggested by Gibson’s ex-wife, Robyn Gibson, who the Mail‘s source said would be accompanying him Down Under, along with a number of the kids they have together.
Though Gibson’s rep denies the move, we’ll keep our ears open, since a rep denial isn’t as reliable as it used to be. In the meantime, below is a PHOTO of Mel Gibson’s Malibu house, which was listed this spring for $14.5 million.
The Malibu house sits on nearly 3 acres, complete with a fruit orchard, organic garden, lighted tennis court and 3 guest houses. Plus, there’s a lavish pool and hot tub. See below. It’s hard to believe that his move is instigated by the recent Oksana tapes and revelations, since it’s been on the market since March, and his N.Y. home, which just sold, was listed even earlier.
