Melissa Joan Hart: I'm Keeping My Baby's Name Secret!Shana Aborn
Have you ever confided the name you chose for your unborn child, only to find out that you’re the only one who likes it? For some reason, lots of friends and family members see nothing wrong with telling an expectant mom things like, Really? You like that name? But everyone is naming their daughters Ava. I once knew a guy named Charles, and he was obnoxious. Why don’t you name him after Great-Granddad Fingal?
It’s no wonder that Melissa Joan Hart has decided not to reveal the name of her third baby until after he – or she – arrives (unlike celebs like Snooki, who shared the news weeks before the birth).
“We have a few favorites – we keep tossing ’em around,” she tells People. But she adds that she made a mistake with her two boys by letting people know that she and husband Mark Wilkerson had decided on Mason and Brady.
“I’ve shared with my family before and they’ve bashed the names we’d chosen,” she says. “I’m just going to keep it to myself and figure it out on the day. I don’t like to name ’em before because I’m like, ‘What if I change my mind?’ ”
Heading into the home stretch, the Melissa & Joey star has been keeping busy enjoying some pre-baby couple time.
“I’ve been going to see a movie a week now,” she tells the magazine, advising other pregnant women to do the same. “Go as much as you can before the baby comes – it becomes twice as expensive to go to the movies [afterward] because you have to get a babysitter involved.”
But Melissa isn’t thinking only of herself. Last week, she hosted a group lunch and baby shower with Operation Shower, an organization that provides baby necessities to moms-to-be whose military husbands are deployed.
“My hat goes off to all of these women,” the actress says. “They are so stoic and so strong and brave. Their husbands are the ones off fighting the war, but they’re the ones at home holding it down and raising these kids.”
Do you agree with Melissa’s decision to keep the name secret? Have any suggestions for her?
