Last week, I had the pleasure of doing a phone interview with actress Melissa Joan Hart. As a busy mom of two boys, Melissa somehow manages motherhood and a career beautifully, and maintains a great balance between the two. I chatted with Melissa about being a mom, and about her partnership with Kellogg’s to help make sure every child eats a nutritious breakfast every day.
I asked Melissa to tell me more about the Kellogg’s “Share Your Breakfast” program, and she explained that 1 in 4 children goes to school without eating breakfast every day. Kellogg’s wants to change this by providing breakfasts to kids in need. Through the “Share Your Breakfast” program, parents and kids can get involved by taking a photo of their breakfast and submitting it to the “Share Your Breakfast” website. For every photo received, Kellogg’s will share breakfast with kids in school who don’t usually have it.
“Share Your Breakfast” is a great way to get kids involved in giving back, and Melissa even has her two boys, Mason and Brady participating. She said that they love to get up and pour their cereal themselves and take photos to send into Kellogg’s.
Melissa is currently working on her show, Melissa and Joey, and splits her time between filming and being home with her family. When I asked her whether or not she thought having a career and her own identity makes her a better parent, Melissa admitted that she thought having a good balance was important, but that it isn’t always easy.
She said that it can be hard to live up to everyone’s expectations, but that she does the best she can to make the most of her time. When she works, she works hard, and when she’s home with her kids, she is completely focused on them. I think that’s a balance we all strive to have, whether we are working moms or not!
The new season of Melissa and Joey premieres on June 29th, and you can learn more about Kellogg’s “Share Your Breakfast” program here.
