In a world where so many moms act like being a parent is the easiest thing they’ve ever done, it is so refreshing to hear a celebrity admit that it’s not an easy job! Bachelor alum Melissa Rycroft is not shy about the fact that her life has changed since she welcomed daughter Ava six months ago.
Rycroft even admits to having moments where she feels like she’s had enough. She told PEOPLE, “There are times when I want to sit outside on my patio and scream going, ‘Oh my gosh! But all it takes is one little smile from her and I go, ‘Well, there you go. It was totally worth that little temper tantrum.’”
Melissa also opened up to PEOPLE about why she and husband, Tye Strickland, made the decision to relocate to California. Though the couple never planned on moving to the west coast, Melissa explains, “Adding a baby to the equation makes my job much harder. It involves travel and it was impossible to travel without her, but at the same time it was impossible to travel with her.”
Being in a new city with no family around can be a tough adjustment for parents, but it sounds like Melissa and Tye work as a team. She gushed about her wonderful hubby and said, “I totally got lucky in the husband department. I’ve heard the rumors … when the baby comes it [ends up] being 90 percent the woman’s responsibility. Tye’s there in the middle of the night to get up with Ava and is there when I just need a five-minute break. There is definitely that bond.”
