Meredith Vieira Leaves 'Today' and Big Paycheck, Could You Do It?

michelle-lamar Michelle Lamar |

Meredith Vieira said goodbye to the Today show on this morning, after nearly five years as the co-host! Vieira is leaving a job that pays her millions in order to spend more time with her family! Could you make that choice?

Meredith has three children with her husband, author Richard M. Cohen. Cohen wrote a best-selling book about coping with multiple sclerosis and colon cancer and it is her husband’s health that is the driving force in her departure from the Today show. The celeb mom told Access Hollywood that her husband’s illness has made her appreciate good health:

“My husband is in good health right now and I want to be with him and hang out with him. If you live with any kind of chronic illness you really do appreciate how valuable health is.”

Ann Curry is replacing Vieira right away, Curry will start immediately and has her first broadcast Thursday!

Meredith’s coworkers gave her a fabulous farewell that included a music video and lots of hugs and tears.  It was very sweet—you can watch below!  But what about you? Could you walk from buck bucks like Meredith Vieira?  Talk to me!
