Michael Jackson's Daughter Paris Speaks At Memorial (VIDEO)
Yes, Michael Jackson was a musical icon and the “King of Pop” to the public, but to his kids, he was “daddy.” His daughter Paris Katherine Jackson, 11, spoke at her father’s memorial and it was so sad.

Seriously? You think that little girl was faking her heartbreaking sobs and tears? Whatever your opinion of MJ, he was daddy to those kids and they have lost their world. I don’t believe for one second her words or emotion were coached.
I had to do a double take, I cannot believe that BG would have assumed that a child was coached to milk sympathy from the masses b/c her dad was gone. I cannot believe you would even allow whats left of your brain matter to even obfuscate emotions. I was angry and after thinking it over I pity you, for you will soon wish someone was compassionate to you in your darkest hour. Shame on you – perhaps the lunar eclipse might have wreak havoc upstairs.
I don’t think her emotion was phony, but I do believe it was over-dramatized. People with that much sorrow in their voices do not remain dry-eyed. I feel for those children at the loss of their father, but I believe that poor little girl was coersed into making a statement… I also believe MJ himself would have been mortified by the exploitation of his children.

I agree with Marachelle. It may have been completely spontaneous, but it felt forced, however, I don’t doubt that she loved her father. Even so, I think it was in really poor taste to have her speak. Even if she wanted to, she should have been discouraged from being in the spotlight to that degree. Way too much for a little girl that has been sheltered from the media her whole life.
I’m inclined to agree with BG – it felt phony. As others have said, I’m sure she loved her dad, and I’m sure she has sorrow, but this particular speech felt like she got caught up in the wave like everyone else. In short, because of the spectacle, the emotion felt forced instead of natural. I also found the barrage of ‘pats’ from the surrounding family a bit of a farce. Put her in the spotlight, watch her cry, and then pat her ‘there there’…
I agree with most of you. The little girl was coached and the speech looked acted out….and no tears. And the Jackson’s all standing around her…all wearing sunglasses was very creepy. Looked like they all were trying to be in the spotlight to help their careers. I mean LaToya….the biggest freak in the family after Michael was actually pretending to be the concerned Aunt? These people have all lived in another world for their entire lives….looked like nothing more than a circus to me. And yes the children were exploited by being put onstage.
Looked completely fake to me as well. I am sure she misses her Daddy and loved him very much, but she seemed to be ‘placed’ in front of the microphone and her words seem to have been chosen for her.
It really seemed rehearsed. Couldn’t get passed the no tears and be able to hear the family saying “speak up” and getting the microphone just right. It was like they wanted her to be out there.

I thought that it was forced on the child by the family for their own gains. Any child who has been sheltered from the public and has had to wear covers and masks wherever he or she goes, would not be that interested in speaking into a microphone on stage with millions of people watching. And you’re right about the family nearly pushing her into the spotlight. It looked like it was planned.

I agree that it just did not seem natural. I feel strongly that the family had something to do with her speaking. Michael is the King of Pop and so very very talented but……the Jackson’s are just odd and this fits in as something that I could see them pushing her to do. they had some motive that I am sure of. It is a shame that they are using his children that way.
Glad to read I wasn’t the only one who felt her little speech seemed very forced and phony. For all of the squawking she did, there were no tears. Noticed, too, the Jackson brothers in their cool dude shades, give me a break. Did they think it was a MIB Convention? And Marlon’s speech….his voice cracking, coming across so distraught but not a tear rolled down his face considering all of his noise. And the other brothers; same thing….they showed a lot of close-ups of them when Marlon was doing his speech and they often seemed to be distraught and choking up…but again..not a tear to be seen. You don’t make the facial expressions of choking up and crying if there aren’t any tears, what a farce. And when Marlon was doing his speech again…Paris was fiddling with her purse and Janet appeared, twice, to be ?scolding her, or telling her to stay still and quit fiddling…so concerned about appearances, I guess. The poor kid likely felt extremely conspicuous and nervous and was nervously fiddling. They’re all a bunch of wackos, the whole works of them. I also noticed that Brooke Shields’ speech……..again, times she’d be choking up but not a tear. What’s with these people? It’s not normal, if genuine, to visibly choke up and have NO tears.
Frankly, it was in incredibly poor taste to have these poor children on stage like that. They’ve been sheltered from the media for a long time…what an inappropriate time to have to be on world-wide TV. Tacky, tacky tacky. Shame on them all, that family will do anything for 5 minutes of exposure and attention.
How are people actually agree that her personal statement about her father seemed COACHED? How hard is it for an eleven year old to come up with, He was the best dad in the world and I loved him. Why is so hard to believe in that at the spur of the moment this eleven year old girl, who’s world has just been turned upside down, didn’t want to tell the world what she thought about her father? I’m sure she’s turned on the tv lately, I’m sure she’s heard some of what the media has been saying about him UNFORTUNATELY. It’s been EVERYWHERE. She probably took it upon herself to make sure that the world knew how great a father he was. If it was so coached and rehearsed and so on, than why did they not lower the microphone down as soon as she stepped up? They only did it after she began speaking. The whole family went up on stage to take turns and say something about him, it was NOT planned. Janet was actually going to grab the mic first when Paris decided to. Why don’t you let these children mourn the way they want to? Who cares if she stood up and spoke in front of thousands of people and millions more who watched at home on tv? It’s her life, she’s a child of a famous man. Duh, she lives in the limelight, would it have been so wrong for her to speak if it wasn’t televised? Steve Irwin’s eight year old stood up and read a speech at her father’s funeral. Was it such a big deal than? NO. This is all Michael Jackson haters saying this crap. Get a LIFE, and let this family mourn the way they freaking want to!
BTW, she’s still an eleven year old girl. Of course she fidgeted through some of the memorial service. That’s fine! And I don’t blame Janet for telling her to sit still and stop fidgeting, look at how everyone is attacking the poor girl because she was doing so before her speech.
It’s not that she spoke, that’s fine. What is so weird is that she “cried” while speaking but had no tears. When people cry the eyes naturally tear. The nose runs. Eyes become puffy and glassy. It’s not pretty. The children had no tears.
