Michelle Williams Shields Matilda During Crewcuts Shopping Trip (Photos)

Michelle Williams’ daughter, Matilda Rose, is as cute as several buttons – and the outfit she wore today only served to highlight that cuteness. Striped dress, polka-dot tights, pink beret: it doesn’t get more sweet-little-girly than that.

But she’s still young, and still learning what it is to be the child of a famous actress. Celebrity parents have to guard their children’s privacy for the sake of their safety and sense of identity. Matilda smiled and posed a bit for the camera’s lens as she and her mom got ready to run errands, but Michelle soon put an end to that by putting a protective arm around her daughter and shielding her face.

The two then proceeded to do some browsing at Crewcuts, the children’s outpost of J. Crew, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Though snow is on its way up the mid-Atlantic, spring will be here before too long, and Matilda could probably use a few new outfits.

Michelle recently told an interviewer that her work and her child were her only two priorities. Looks like she has the latter priority right in place.

Being the child of a celebrity means having to be careful about being photographed - even on a simple shopping trip.
