Maybe she listened to Tracy Morgan? Or maybe she (or her team) finally heard what the entire Internet has been saying and decided to pull back on the ‘Look at me, I’m grown up. Hannah Montana who?’ act. At any rate, she finally behaved like a real adult and a good role model today. She can be tamed!
“If I’m ever seen out dancing at a club having fun, I don’t want people to immediately go, ‘Oh, she’s on drugs, she’s drunk,” Miley told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show. “I’m never going to be that person. As long as I steer clear of that and keep that mind frame, I think I’ll be cool.”
That’s great advice. Let’s just hope someone tells her that wearing skimpy outfits, faux making out with girls, and dancing on stripper poles is another form of abusing your body, but I’m happy she’s starting somewhere. Baby steps from baby to lady.
Miley, who is just 17, isn’t planning on kicking back the cocktails once she hits legal age. “I’m not gonna be like, ‘I’ll never have a drink in my entire life,’ because that’s probably going to be a lie,” she admitted. “There’s a right way to do so — everything is good in small portions.”
Except for cocaine and a slew of other things, but again positive message.
Her decision to stay dry or at least only damp, comes from lessons learned from her mentors. Her parents don’t drink and Bret Michaels, whom she has collaborated with, has told her to stay away from the booze and pills. “Having him [Brett] in my life and him telling me some of stories and some of the dumb crap that happens…he just makes me never want to do that stuff.”
Let’s keep our collective fingers crossed that when she is 21, this opinion stays with her. Hopefully, for the time being, her words will reach her fans and make a real difference.
