Miss Universe Jimena Navarrete On New Gig As Ambassador to Mexico + President Gives Her Congrats!

Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete, who was given the coveted crown of Miss Universe,  isn’t going to just use her title as confirmation of her beauty and grace, but she’ll also use it as a de facto ambassador gig.  She is hoping to use this opportunity to highlight her home country of Mexico.

“I want to whole world to know about my country and my people,” she said after winning and beating out beauties from eighty-two other countries.

She gracefully answered a question about the very controversial Arizona immigration law saying… “Every country has the right to impose and enact their laws … But I tell you that all the Mexicans and the Latins that are living here in the United States are hardworking people.”

“I imagine that they’re all going crazy in Mexico right now,” the Guadalajara native said. “I’m extremely proud and I’m sure they’re very proud, too.” And the president of her country agrees with her statement.

“Her triumph is a source of pride and satisfaction for all Mexicans, who see in her the fruits of perseverance,” declared Mexican President Felipe Calderon in a statement to the world.

After winning she posted on her Facebook page, “We won, long live Mexico!”

But she won’t be actually living in Mexico for a while, as part of the prize pack for winning she’ll be getting a “luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, plus jewelry, clothes and shoes fit for a beauty champion.”
