Moment of Silence for the Tragedy in Tuscon

moment of silence

A moment of silence for the victims of the Tuscon tragedy

A moment of silence was led by President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama today.

No speeches or empty words of comfort for the families or a nation who mourns the loss of the victims and fears that events like this could happen anywhere, to anyone.

Instead, there were three dings of a chime by a Marine. The President and First Lady stood outside of the White House, members of Congress stood on hte steps of the Capitol, same with members of the Supreme Court.

At this point, words wouldn’t mean much. There isn’t a way to explain away the six deaths and the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords. So, the nation takes a moment of silence to show support and remembrance of the victims and their families.
