Nancy O’Dell is making headlines for her new Entertainment Tonight gig, but is Nancy O’Dell a good Mary Hart replacement – or should Lara Spencer have gotten the job?
The buzz is that Nancy O’Dell will help skew things a little bit younger on Entertainment Tonight now that Mary Hart has moved on.
Entertainment Tonight’s move to go with Nancy O’Dell sounds similar to The Early Show cleaning house by firing Harry Smith.
Nancy O’Dell was announced as the Entertainment Tonight replacement to the retiring Mary Hart – apparently, a bit of a surprise to those who thought that The Insider host Lara Spencer would nab the gig.
Nancy O’Dell says the Entertainment Tonight job wasn’t planned even though she quit her job on Access Hollywood last December.
O’Dell left Access Hollywood because, she said, “it didn’t feel like the right fit anymore. I think after you reach a certain level of maturity and a certain point in your career and you know what you want and what you feel good about, you know when it’s time to make a change.”
Look for Nancy O’Dell to host Fox’s “New Year’s Eve Live” celebration from Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on December 31.
