Naomi Judd and Wynonna Judd Appear on Oprah Winfrey ShowMariaLianos
Wynonna Judd and Naomi Judd appared on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday. The famous mother-daughter country duo are planning an upcoming tour starting in November of this year.
During the hour, Naomi and Wynonna also gave a private tour of the farm of 1,000 acres of Tennessee to call home, and performed a special duet for Oprah.
Naomi’s health is doing well after battling Hepatitis C. Wynonna is dating again after her ex-husband, Daniel Roach, was convicted of attempted aggravated sexual battery against a minor.
Wynonna also revealed her amazing 60-pound weight loss. “I feel like I finally got it. I turned 45, went through a horrible divorce,” Wynonna said. “I lost my family and I gained myself because I was all alone with God.”
Naomi and Wynonna say that their relationship as mother-daughter has improved since they communicate better and accept one another for who they are.
We’re moving forward by saying, ‘Mom, what I hear you saying is that really doesn’t work for you,'” Wynonna says. “I don’t have to like it. I don’t have to agree with it. [I can say], ‘I still think you’re crazy,’ whatever. But I can say, ‘I really understand why you feel that way.'”
Naomi says she’s proud of Wynonna. “I love what Darwin said: ‘It’s not the strongest or the smartest of us that survive. It’s the one that’s willing to evolve and adapt,'” Naomi says. “I always tell her she’ll go far. Flexible, adaptable, resilient.”
Wynonna says she wants to tour to have the opportunity to understand Naomi as a person, not just a mother. “I used to say, ‘If it’s not one thing, it’s your mother,’ and make jokes,” Wynonna says. “I feel like this is a chance for me to really know who she is. Because before I was so reactive and I was so worried about just trying to survive and stand up for myself and push back and now I’m like: ‘I release you. I let you go. I love you.'”
Much has changed since the Judds last toured, but both mother and daughter say they’re grateful to hit the road together one last time. “I’m radiantly healthy and feisty as ever,” Naomi says. “Just say we’re loaded and the safety’s off!”
