Nick Lachey: Baby's Almost Here and "It's Awesome"

Nick and Vanessa Lachey will be parents soon.

It won’t be long now!

Nick and Vanessa Minnillo Lachey are starting the countdown to the birth of their baby son, and the dad-to-be is on pins and needles.

“I can’t even explain how excited I am,” Nick recently told People. “For someone who has wanted a family for such a long time, I’ve looked forward to this moment. Now that it’s almost here, it’s awesome.”

The couple is expecting the new arrival in September. Vanessa confessed a few months ago that she always envisioned having a boy first, but that a healthy baby was her first priority.

Nick is so psyched about being a dad that he’s even looking forward to the less-fun aspects of new parenthood!

He says he doesn’t mind the many sleepless nights ahead, and while the thought doesn’t “excite” him, he’s “willing to change diapers.”

Meanwhile, Vanessa has been keeping busy preparing the nursery; she recently got an adorable toddler airplane from friends at LaylaGrace.

But she cares just as much about moms-to-be who need a helping hand preparing for baby. She designed a soldier-inspired bootie for ShoeDazzle; sales of the shoe will go toward Operation Shower, an organization that throws baby showers for expectant military moms.

We can’t wait to hear the baby news in a few weeks!
