Not-So-Smooth Sailing! Kate Gosselin's Cruise Is Cancelled

Kate Gosselin's travel plans were docked.

Bad news for travelers who were looking forward to meeting Kate Gosselin this summer.

In January, the Kate Plus 8 star announced that she’d been tapped to be a hostess on a special Royal Caribbean cruise in August. The week-long trip to Haiti, Jamaica and Cozumel was to feature activities such as crafts, games and a dinner with Kate and her two oldest children, twins Mady and Cara.

But yesterday, it was announced that the cruise had been cancelled for lack of sales.

The president of Luxury Cruises, who helped arrange the event, confirmed, “We just didn’t get the turnout that we desired and mutually we agreed that if we didn’t get it, we would cancel.”

Money was likely an object for even the most devoted Gosselin fans: The cost of the cabins ranged from $1,900 to more than $3,000 – and that doesn’t include the lodgings in the Florida port or the little extras that every trip involves.

Those who did buy tickets were given the choice of staying on the de-celebritized cruise or getting a refund.

Kate hasn’t officially commented on the news on her website or Twitter account yet, but the spokeswoman says she did right by her fans: “Kate asked for everyone’s names, addresses and phone numbers and reached out to each one personally.”

Though it’s no doubt a personal disappointment as well as a financial one, maybe Kate will find another way to spend her summer vacation – hopefully with all eight of her children along for the ride.
