This morning, many Facebook users are asking themselves the same question: “What is the number game on Facebook?” The numbers on Facebook status, or Facebook number game, is quickly becoming the latest Facebook craze. After the Facebook cartoon hoax mania last week, some people are leery of what the Facebook # status game is all about. While the number game on Facebook seems innocent enough, does it have the potential to start cyber-bullying among older teens and young adults?
Basically, people have numbers on their Facebook status, which “tags” them with a certain number, so that their Facebook friends can use it to talk about them without actually naming them. It can be kind of cute, for example, someone could update their status with something like, “#15 is my best friend and I love her!”
But it also has the potential for users to get pretty nasty with each other since they don’t have to name names. There is a real possibility that older teens and young adults will use the Facebook number status game to cut each other down with insults, resulting in a Facebook cyber-bullying epidemic.
What do you think of the numbers on Facebook status game?
