Obama stitches are making headlines tonight, after President Obama received 12 stitches from a basketball injury.
President Obama needed 12 stitches on his lip after receiving an elbow to the face during a morning basketball game.
An opposing player threw an elbow to President Obama’s face – in the video clip, Obama is seen leaving the basketball game; he received stitches from the White House doctor.
Obama was later videotaped through the window being treated.
The White House released this statement about President Obama’s stitches:
“After being inadvertently hit with an opposing player’s elbow in the lip while playing basketball with friends and family, the President received 12 stitches today administered by the White House Medical Unit. They were done in the doctor’s office located on the ground floor of the White House.”
Rey Decerega, director of programs for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, is the owner of the elbow that split Obama’s lip.
Decerega released the following statement:
“I learned today the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport. I enjoyed playing basketball with him this morning. I’m sure he’ll be back out on the court again soon.”
