Octo-Mom Defends Her Doctor As His Court Date Approaches

Octo-Mom Nadya Suleman may be taking some time away from making babies and promoting for PETA to testify in the court hearing of her gynecologist and octuplet mastermind Dr Michael Kamrava.

Dr. Kamrava has been accused of gross negligence, also known as letting a women have far too many babies at one time to be safe, by the California Attorney General. The hearing is schedule for October 18, 2010 and will take place in Los Angeles.

Nadya has not been called to appear just yet, but she could be ordered to as the trial date looms closer. Her lawyer, Jeff Czech tells that, “Her position is that Dr Kamrava did not do anything wrong – he knew her medical history beforehand and acted accordingly. Nadya believes that Dr. Kamrava complied with her wishes as his patient.”

While I am not a lawyer nor a doctor, this seems wrong. I would hope that if I went in and asked for 16 babies and 16 more pairs of breasts in order to feed them, the medical professional entrusted with my care would give me a firm “No.”

Along with gross negligence, the doctor has been charged with repeated negligent acts and keeping inadequate records. The CA Attorney General said that the doctor transferred “a number of blastocyst embryos far in excess of ASRM recommendation and beyond the reasonable judgment of any treating physician.”

Basically, he planted far too many babies in Nadya’s belly during her pregnancy.

He is also being charged for not noticing the obvious. Dr. Kamrava should have given Nadya a mental health evaluation but did not. “I’ve never heard any of that before and that’s their subjective use,” Nadya said. Having started her fertility treatment in 1997, she claims they did not perform those tests back then.

Having given Nadya 14 children, the octuplets and six older children, I’d say that Dr. Kamrava is going to have a hard time in court. There are 14 little bodies with guilty written all over them.
