Oh No, They Didn't! 7 Celebs Who Embarrass Their Kids (Photos)

Tom Cruise: Hot screen star, embarrassing dad.

Oh, sure, Tom Cruise looks amazing here (and enviably ageless). But for his new role as a hair-band frontman in Rock of Ages, he took on a very different style – and his daughter Suri wasn’t exactly thrilled.

He recently told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM talk show what happened when his little girl caught sight of him in full makeup. “When I had the eyeliner on and the painted nails, she was a little taken aback by that,” he says in the interview (as reported by Us Weekly). “She was like, ‘What is happening to my daddy?’ ”

That may not be something young Suri will want to share with her kindergarten classmates anytime soon. But she has something in common with other famous kids: parents who are beloved by fans, but who can act downright embarrassing off the set.

We’re not talking Real Housewives mom-brawls or Charlie Sheen‘s drunken antics, mind you – just regular “Oh, Mooooommm!” and “Dad, do you mind?!” stuff like singing around the house, wearing awful clothes in front of classmates and (shudder!) kissing the kids in public.

Here are just a few examples of famous parents who sometimes make their offspring wish they could trade places with a regular family for a while!

"Twilight" fans can't get enough of the books, movies or stars - but not Luca Facinelli! As the daughter of Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen, she prefers her dad to keep a low profile. "She's like, 'Let's not talk anything 'Twilight.' Don't mention it. Wear a hat to my school,' " mom Jennie Garth has said.

Her role in "The Reader" may have won her an Oscar nomination, but Winslet's two children were none too impressed when she tried to prep for her role at home. "They got mightily fed up with me reading stories with a German accent," she has said. "They said, 'Mum, just be plain. Don't do any funny stuff like voices. Just be regular.' "
