Oliver Hudson Names Son Bodhi Hawn Hudson

By Lulu and Moxleys Mom |

Well, now we know.  Oliver Hudson — son of Goldie Hawn — and wife Erinn Bartlett have decided on a name for their newborn son who was born on March 19: Bodhi Hawn Hudson. Bodhi is a bit less rough-and-tumble of a name than Goldie’s other grandsons: Kate Hudson’s child Ryder and Oliver’s first son Wilder. So, the “Hawn” part is obvious, but where did Bodhi come from?

Per an US Weekly magazine naming expert: Bodhi is a Sanskrit name translated as “enlightenment” or “awakening” and is associated with Buddhism. In early times, it was synonymous with the state of nirvana, being freed from hate, greed and ego.  The Bodhi tree is a large fig tree under which the founder of Buddhism received enlightenment.

Think this name is really out there? This isn’t the first Bodhi, and surely won’t be the last.  Jenna Elfman’s husband’s name is Bodhi and hey, how about that Olympic skiier Bode Miller (sure, different spelling but close enough).  Plus, James Taylor and Carly Simon have a grandson named Bodhi. See? Not that original.
