Olympian Jennie Finch Can't Decide on a Name for Her Baby GirlShana Aborn
When you’re a pregnant celebrity, not only do you have the responsibility of choosing a great name for your child, you also have the burden of knowing that all your fans might be critical of it.
Olympic softball champion Jennie Finch is expecting a baby girl next year with husband Casey Daigle, and she admits she hasn’t yet come up with the perfect name. The decision was a lot easier with her two sons, she tells People.
Her first son was named Ace for good reason. “Us both being pitchers, from [his] standpoint, Ace is the best of everything,” she says. Then with her second son, they just went with the other name they were considering for their firstborn – Diesel.
Finding a girl’s name is tougher. “Everyone is expecting something crazy and outrageous with having Ace and Diesel, but we’re not sure,” Jennie says.
The athlete-parents are favoring a “sweet Southern name” at this point, but they’re not set on it yet. (Savannah? Scarlett? Charlotte? Carolina?)
Whatever they choose, let’s hope Jennie has more luck outfitting all three of her kids next Halloween than she did finding a costume for Ace and Diesel this year. “We went out and got [6-year-old Ace’s] Power Ranger costume and I got Diesel a little matching one,” she says in the interview she gave shortly before the holiday. “It was a little short and he was not so much a fan of it, so now we’re in the shopping range.”
Jennie and Casey’s little girl is scheduled to make her debut in January, so they have a little while to find the perfect name for her. Maybe they’ll take the suggestion of a People fan who commented on the online article.
The reader’s choice? Diamond – as in baseball diamond!
What do you think? What should Jennie call her little girl?
