One of the first words that pops into my head when I think of Oz The Great and Powerful is ‘beautiful.’ It really is stunning, from the lush lands and iconic landmarks such as the Emerald City to the costumes like Glinda’s white feather encrusted gown and the detailed make-up on all the residents of Oz.
In a new behind-the-scenes featurette, you can get a peek at what went into creating the amazing costumes and the very unique make-up and hair style in the film. Having seen the production in person, the huge wardrobe and extensive make-up departments really were impressive. Rack and racks of period and fantasy costumes hung from long rows and a whole slew of little people sat in the make-up department getting their faces made up for shooting. A lot of work went into making the witches and the residents of Oz look magical and memorable, a feat that was achieved by these extremely talented artisans of cloth and face paint.
