E! television host Giuliana Rancic has been very open about her struggles with infertility, with her third IVF attempt even revealing that she has breast cancer, and now other celebrities are stepping forward about their experiences, too.
Stars such as Padma Lakshmi, Sherri Shepherd and Pregnant in Heels star Rosie Pope are part of Redbook magazine’s The Truth About Trying Campaign, which includes a series of personal videos of both celebs and real women who open up about their own stories of infertility while offering encouragement and support to those going through similar experiences.
“It’s crazy to me that this topic is still taboo,” says Rosie Pope. “A lot of people who have gone through in vitro fertilization and managed to have kids shove it under the rug and pretend it never happened.”
“In Hollywood, you can talk about your drug addiction of divorce, but not infertility. It’s a real disservice to women,” she adds.
According to Redbook, infertility affects nearly 12 percent of reproductive-age American women in the country, which is about 7.3 million.
