Former ER actress Maura Tierney, has revealed she found a tumor in her breast, and that is the reason her upcoming NBC fall show Parenthood, has been pushed back and no air date has been established at this time.
Tierney, 44, told Usmagazine.com, “In an effort to guard my privacy, it seems that the wording of NBC’s press release has unfortunately caused some confusion and undue alarm about my health. I have discovered a tumor in my breast which requires surgery.”
She added, “I will not know my exact diagnosis or course of treatment until that surgery is performed. My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable conditon.
“I’m very optimistic as to the outcome and want to thank everyone who has sent positve thoughts and support. I look forward to going back to work soon.”
Tierney’s illness had the rumor mills buzzing with a possible pregnancy, but obvioulsy, that is not the case. Maybe one day Maura will be a mom for real – she played one in the later years of ER and I thought she was wonderful!
In her new show, she plays a single mom of two teens, who must move back in with her parents. Maura says the show isn’t just about parenting, and shows the struggles everyone has in their family life, and how they deal with what comes their way. She said people will be able to relate to the different characters and what they go through.
We wish her a speedy recovery!
