The “Rakta Charitra” reviews seem to agree on one thing: The movie, which caused a rating controversy before the Indian board before its release, is certainly one of the most violent ever, and it’s not for kids. But that’s to be expected, considering the life of Paritala Ravi, the man who inspired the film. He’s played by Vivek Oberoi.
Ravi was the son of a communist. By all accounts he began his life as a soft-spoken boy who did not seek out conflict. That changed when his dad was murdered by landlords and factionists in Anantapur District. His brother, Paritala Hari, was also murdered.
Ravi was just 17 when his dad was killed, but he realized he needed to protect himself and the rest of his family – and he also wanted to avenge his father’s death.
