Celeb Dad Patrick Dempsey Leaving 'Grey's Anatomy' for Family?

By Michelle Lamar |

Patrick DempseyThe ABC series Grey’s Anatomy will be in its eighth season when it returns in the fall, but Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo may leave at the end of the season! One of our favorite celeb dads, Patrick Dempsey, spilled that he’s leaving the popular series but is it for his family?

Earlier this month Dr. McDreamy told Italian Vanity Fair that he’s checking out of Grey’s Anatomy and that season eight will be his last:

“I do not know what’s going to happen to the other characters, but for me it’s done.”

After the celeb dad spilled his future plans for Grey’s Anatomy, his reps scurried to downplay Dempsey’s remarks, one of his reps told US Magazine:

“He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season, and we have no idea what the future holds.”

The demands of a TV series are brutal, so who can blame Patrick Dempsey for ending his run on Grey’s? Dempsey has a nine-year-old daughter, Tallula Fyfe Dempsey, with his wife, Jill Fink. The couple also share twins who are four years-old, Darby Galen Dempsey and Sullivan Patrick Dempsey.

He’s been doing the series for 8 seasons—8 years—and you can’t get those years back! Kids grow up way too fast. What do you think about Patrick Dempsey leaving for his family?
