Pee Wee Herman And The Playhouse Gang Are Broadway BoundMara Siegler
It’s a return to the shows roots for Paul Rueben and the playhouse. The show actually began as a live show five years before Pee Wee and his bike ever hit the silver screen and six years before the show debuted on TV.
Paul has kept a low profile since the early ’90’s after his show was canceled proceeding an incedent where he was caught exposing himself in an adult theater. It was shocking, but every one deserves a second chance.
I am super excited to see Pee Wee back in the spotlight! I grew up on the characters and this resurgence will allow for a nice dose of nostalgia, as well as give a whole new generation the opportunity to enjoy the quirky character. It has been written to include more current references such as the Internet and ShamWow, but for the most part, things seem to be the same. Pee-wee “regulars” including Miss Yvonne, Mailman Mike, Cowboy Curtis, Jambi the Genie, and my favorites, Chairry and Pterri the Pterodactyl, will take the stage along with some new characters.
Tickets aren’t cheap, but it is probably worth it for die-hard fans. For premium weekend seats, expect to part with $227.00. The cheap seats are $67.00.
