Pixar's Brave: Our Top 5 Picks to Play Merida in a Live-Action Movie (Photos)

There have been a lot of movies recently that have been redone from animation to live-action. Mirror Mirror starring Julia Roberts was a “Snow White Legend Comes Alive” and this year the release of Snow White and the Huntsman starring Charlize Theron is another live action play of the same story. While Mirror Mirror didn’t do as well as the studio hoped, Snow White and the Huntsman has been receiving great reviews.

Another live-action is set to start shooting starring Angelina JolieMaleficent which schedule to release in 2014, but there is already so much buzz around that movie. With the great reviews popping up already for Disney Pixar’s Brave, I can’t help but wonder when it will be set to release a live-action movie as well — it seems to be the trend.

Click through to see our picks to play Merida in a live-action movie:

  • Hilary Duff 1 of 5
    Hilary Duff
We have all grown to love Hilary as a "good girl" with a good girl image. It would be great to see her break out of this and show her more spunky and rebellious side.
  • Jessica Alba 2 of 5
    Jessica Alba
Jessica is great at playing roles that are tough. From Fantastic Four to her role in Sin City she could be really believable in this role.
  • Kate Hudson 3 of 5
    Kate Hudson
Kate is really good at playing the role of the funny and spunky girl, which is totally Merida. It would also be great to see her in a more stand up for yourself movie. Plus, she would look killer with red hair!
  • Reese Witherspoon 4 of 5
    Reese Witherspoon
Reese has always been good at surprising us with roles that we never thought she could do. From Legally Blonde to Walk the Line I think she could pull of just about anything, including this movie.
  • Camilla Alves 5 of 5
    Camilla Alves
Wife to Matthew McConaughey, Camilla is not an actress, but there's always a first time. There is this quality about her that makes us all want to see more and what a great break-out role this would be. I bet she could really shoot a bow and arrow!
