The First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, revealed in an interview today that France isn’t head-over-heels crazy about her pregnancy the same way Americans are obsessed over Hollywood babies.
The Italian-born former model, who is married to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, said in an interview with a British radio station: “I’m superstitious, so yes, I’ve been very careful.”
“But there isn’t much to say. So many women are expecting children and giving birth, and it’s so uninteresting for French people.”
Carla, who is due to give birth sometime in October, says that her pregnancy has been “something very banal,” even if it’s “great news” for her personally.
Although French gossip and tabloid magazines have been following her pregnancy since her announcement last May, it hasn’t made front cover headlines and news as with celebrity pregnancies Stateside.
Despite this, Carla says that even though she plans on shielding her child from the public eye, he or she will be set to be the first baby at the Elysee Palace, or the French White House.
