'Pregnant in Heels' Star Rosie Pope: Advice on Prepping for Baby! (VIDEO)

Rosie PopeIf you haven’t watched Bravo’s new TV show ‘Pregnant in Heels’, you are missing out!

The star of the show, Rosie Pope, is a maternity concierge – basically, she helps pregnant moms prepare for the arrival of their new baby. Obviously not everybody can afford this kind of service, so you can imagine some of the moms she deals with.

Rosie recently started blogging for iVillage Pregnancy and Parenting, and offers advice to expectant moms everywhere…for free!

In her latest blog post, Rosie talks about the importance of prenatal classes that new parents should take: Baby CPR, A-Z of Childbirth and Newborn Care, Parenting 101 and Prenatal Breastfeeding. I myself took a prenatal breastfeeding class (not hers!), and it was money and time well spent.

Rosie suggests that by taking these classes, “your first weeks of motherhood are a little easier. (Will they answer your every parenting question? Of course not — but a little education will give you the confidence to know when you’re doing it right and when you need to ask for more help.)”

Rosie also tells new parents that after bringing your new baby home “the first two weeks will always be crazy town. Your hormones are wild, you’re sleep-deprived, your body bears no resemblance to the one you remember, you’re overwhelmed with the enormity of your new responsibility, and it’s hard not to break down in tears over the smallest of things… well, let yourself cry, my lovelies, and just keep telling yourself, “Rosie said two weeks… two weeks until I’ll start feeling like I might actually be able to do this.” After that, taking a trip outside won’t seem like climbing Mount Everest, and actually putting on clean clothes will seem possible. You’ll start to realize — at last — that you’re going to be a great (albeit sleep deprived) mother!”

That is the best advice on new mommyhood I’ve heard in awhile…and so true!

So what is your #1 piece of advice for new or expecting first time moms?
