Pregnant Vanessa Minnillo: "I Always Envisioned a Boy"

Vanessa Minnillo Lachey (here pre-baby) would be just as happy with either a boy or girl.

Many moms-to-be hate to admit that they secretly hope for one gender child over another. They dream of going shopping or exploring nature with a daughter, or watching a son’s soccer game and having heart-to-hearts about girls. But when the baby actually arrives, any disappointment soon vanishes as Mom discovers the joys every child brings.

So kudos to Vanessa Minnillo (who actually goes by Vanessa Lachey now that she’s married to Nick) for being open about her personal dreams for the baby she’s expecting later this year.

Answering a Twitter question from a follower, she said, “I’m excited either way! But I always wanted a boy first. Just a healthy baby.”

She was quick to re-emphasize later: #ToBeClear @NickSLachey & I are praying for a healthy baby First and Foremost! I just always envisioned a boy 1st to take care of his siblings.”

She went on: “But a baby girl would be just as much of a blessing…and she’d have @NickSLachey wrapped around her finger! Haha!!”

Vanessa shared more tidbits about her pregnancy in her tweets last night. For instance, they’ve got a girl’s name already picked out, “but still working on the boys name.”

She hasn’t suffered any morning sickness, but since becoming pregnant, certain foods now turn her off. “No Italian food. And I normally LOVE it!”

Her favorite part of being pregnant? “Knowing “our” love is becoming a person!”

Have they decorated the nursery yet? “No, ahhhh! Better get started!”

Her plans for now are to keep hosting the Wipeout show and living in L.A. with her husband. But once their little one is older, they want to relocate to Nick’s hometown of Cincinnati.

And it sounds like she’ll have plenty of chances to experience the fun of both boys and girls. Vanessa says that her ideal number of children is “3 or 4, God willing.”

Hope all her prayers are fulfilled!
