Prince William, the second-in-line to the British throne, and his long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton will tie the knot in July next year, if bookies in the UK are to be believed.
Is it possible that the royal couple will be married on July 23, 2011 and an engagement to be announced before Christmas.
According to bookies, yes. “Whenever we see a flurry of bets we slash the prices because we’re worried that the leak has got out there. It’s clear that if a wedding is on the cards, a lot of people will know about it so it will leak out,” William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said.
The couple, both 28, are believed to have ruled out the idea of a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s Cathedral, the scene of Prince Charles’s wedding to Diana.
Instead, they are thought to prefer St George’s Chapel, Windsor, where Charles’s marriage to Camilla was blessed.
Buckingham Palace has insisted that no official announcement is imminent.
But there have been some clues as to the possibility of an engagement soon.
Kate recently gave a further hint when she started having outfits tailor-made. Kate’s parents recently spent time at William’s mother’s estate at Balmoral and his father’s retreat in Scotland. The couple also made a very public appearance at a wedding together.
The two have been dating, with a couple of brief breaks, for nine years, but recent developments indicate that Kate will soon be formally “introduced” as Williams’ princess-to-be.
