Randy Quaid Forgot Where He Lives - Arrested for Squatting In His Former Home

randy quaidRandy Quaid and his wife Evi are in trouble with the law – again!

The couple were arrested for living in the guest house of a home in Santa Barbara, California without the permission of the owner.   The couple were arrested by sheriff’s deputies yesterday after receiving a call from the home’s current owner.  They are currently facing burglary charges for living in the premises without permission.

It may be a bit of confusion on the part of the Quaids who are claiming that they are the rightful owners of the property and have been since the 1990s.  The current owner has documentation that he has owned the property since 2007.

When deputies arrived, they found that the Quaids had made themselves at home in the property by changing the security codes, moving security cameras, hanging their clothes in the closet, and placing a large painting of themselves above the fireplace.

Randy and Evi have been charged with felony residential burglary and entering a residential building without consent.  Evi is also facing charges of resisting arrest for the incident.    The owner is alleging that they have caused more than $5,000 in damages to the property.

This is not the first run-in with the law for the couple who were also charged with burlary last year.  In that case, the two were accused of skipping out on a $10,000-plus hotel bill in Santa Barbara County.

Quaid has a daughter, Amanda Quaid, 27, from a previous relationship, and has adopted Evi’s two children Charlotte and Kaki.
