Those Real Housewives, they love the drama. And it’s not just for the cameras. A few of these reality stars don’t just bring the controversy to the screen but with run-ins with the cops. What Real Housewives have been in trouble with the law?
The week Sonja Morgan was arrested and charged with a DWI in Southhampton, Long Island. She reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test but did do the field sobriety test which she failed.
The now labeled “crazy” Kelly Bensimon - from the New York City Housewives show – was arrested last year for misdemeanor assault. Her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas Stefanov, told the police that Kelly had hit him. The criminal complaint that was filed said she struck him, “with a closed fist, thereby causing informant to suffer a laceration below informant’s left eye and substantial pain.” Kelly’s lawyer said that, “the allegations are by a jilted lover saying she struck him during the course of an argument. We deny the charges.”
Danielle’s trouble with the law is no secret. It’s been talked about on several episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey and was featured in the book Cop Without a Badge. Back in 1986, she was busted for “charges of kidnapping, extortion, and drug possession.” Danielle cut a deal and only had to serve five years of probation.
But she is a trouble again. In April she was arrested at her New Jersey home because she hasn’t paid her divorce lawyers with fees reportedly in the six figures. They issued a civil action contempt warrant. She was released 90 minutes later.
Nothing came of this one, but Kim Zolciak, a fellow cast member on the Real Housewives of Atlanta filed a police report against NeNe Leakes. NeNe allegedly strangled Kim while they were having an explosive fight. But nothing came of it and it appears that Kim did not press charges.
The cast member from the Real Housewives of Orange County narrowly escaped jail when a bench warrant was issued for her arrest. She did not appear at a court appearance in regards to a defamation lawsuit from an ex-boyfriend. But the issue was resolved and she never had to go to the slammer.
And don’t forget about the Real House husbands:
The Real Housewives of Orange County was arrested last year for “civil contempt” which stemmed from him not paying child support.
The husband of Teresa Giudice was arrested for a DUI after he crashed his car into a telephone pole. He was charged with “driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving (and) failure to maintain his traffic lane,”
The former MLB pitcher and ex husband of The Real Housewives of Orange Country Jeana (who is no longer on the show) was arrested for a DUI in September of last year. He was reportedly driving while being over three times the legal limit.
