It’s been a rough year for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong.

Her family has undergone some financial hardships, she split from her husband Russell Armstrong, and now the worst has happened. Her estranged husband was reportedly taken his own life. This isn’t just some manufactured Real Housewives drama, this is real life at it’s most traumatic.

    Taylor Armstrong was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in June of 1971 (she is 40 years old now). Her real name is Shana Hughes. She then changed her name to Taylor Ford.

    While in high school and college she was a National Championship cheerleader.

    She has a degree in Biology.

    She moved to Beverly Hills to own and operate a textile business. Before her move to California she worked for an ecommerce company based in Florida and also worked for Pfizer and Medtronic.

    She met Russell —a venture capitalist - in 2004 and the two were married in 2005 saying "I came all the way to Beverly Hills and then, married a Texan."

    Taylor and Russell announced their separation in July 2011.

    Her and Russell's daughter Kennedy was born in 2006. She sold her business so she could be a full time mom and wife saying "I sold my business to enjoy Motherhood and experienced the most rewarding years of my life."

    Now that Kennedy is in school Taylor is now handling business development as President of eImplement, Inc., a management consulting firm she co-founded. She also is the Chief Creative Director of and President of Four Truffles.

    Taylor is also big on charity. She works with The 1736 Family Crisis Center which helps "families who have endured domestic challenges find comfort, stability and a new beginning." She herself was a victim of domestic abuse.
