Reese Witherspoon Consulted Her Kids Before Planning Baby #3

Reese Witherspoon's pregnancy was no surprise to her children.

The news of Reese Witherspoon‘s pregnancy was a shock to most of the world (at least, most of us who hadn’t been scrutinizing her stomach recently). But there are two people who had a pretty good idea of what was going on: her children, 12-year-old Ava and 9-year-old Deacon.

A source reveals to People that she and husband Jim Toth brought the kids into the discussion very soon after they had decided to try for a baby together. “All along, Reese has been very open with her kids about her plans to expand the family.”

Reese made sure to discuss the topic thoroughly with Ava, who’s on the cusp of adolescence. “Especially [because] Ava is at a sensitive age, Reese always makes sure to consult with her,” says the source. “She is very respectful of Ava’s feelings.”

One other factor that will help make the adjustment easier is Ava and Deacon’s strong relationship with both their father and stepdad.

Ryan Philippe and Jim get along well, says the source, and Jim has been invaluable at looking after the children while Reese has been busy working.

Reese gushes that Jim is great with her kids,” the insider adds. “And the kids seem to really like him.”

Now, with the baby on the way, the mom-to-be plans to cut back on her acting projects and spend more time with her growing family.

Sounds like the new little Toth is going to enter a happy, well-adjusted family. That may not be good for the tabloids – but it’s terrific for all three kids.
