Reese Witherspoon May Play Peggy LeeTheMommyologist
Rumor has it that celebrity mom, Reese Witherspoon, is in the middle of negotiations to play Peggy Lee in a biopic about her life as a jazz singer. The film will be done by the same director who did Julie and Julia, Nora Ephron.
If her role as June Carter-Cash starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Walk The Line is any indication on what Reese could bring to Peggy Lee’s character, then this is sure to be a must-see picture! Reese won an Oscar for her portrayal of June, and she even did her own singing in the film. There is no doubt that she would do an incredible job playing Peggy Lee’s as well.
Reese was also involved in securing the rights to the late singer’s story from her estate, and will reportedly co-produce the film with Marc Platt. Platt and Witherspoon also worked together on Legally Blonde.
Peggy Lee passed away in 2001 at the age of 81 years old. The movie will no doubt feature highlights of her singing days, and will also likely detail her four marriages and divorces, as well as her childhood.
I know that I will be running to the theater to see Reese as Peggy Lee if she takes this role!
